Do I need an expensive sewing machine?
You can use almost any sewing machine as long as you can use a ¼ in foot for quilting.

When do Sunshine Quilters of Spencer meet?
Usually we meet once a month.

Where do the Sunshine Quilters of Spencer meet?
We meet at different locations  in and around Charlotte, Concord and Spencer NC

What if I can’t spend the entire day sewing?
You can drop in and sew for as long as you can. It’s not necessary for you to stay all day.

What do I need to bring?
You need a sewing machine with a ¼ in foot, thread, scissors and any other items that you need to sew.

What type of fabric and how much do I need to bring?
Nothing, all of the quilt kits are already prepared are provided free of charge.

Can I take a Quilt Kit home to sew and return it later?
No. All the Quilt Kits are prepared together and we need to keep the finished quilts together for donation.

Do you accept donations?
YES!! YES!! YES!! We are always in need of donations. We can always use:

Fabric: It must be 100% cotton and child appropriate and a minimum of 1 yd cuts for tops.
Batting: It must be 100% cotton.
Backings: Flannel when possible, 1 ½ yds minimum.
Thread: Must be 100% quilt store quality, cotton, neutral in color.

Other: We can always use a sewing machine in good working condition. Occasionally we have volunteers who want to help us sew but don’t have a sewing machine.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Unfortunately, No. Sunshine Quilters of Spencer is NOT a 501(c) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. Based on the amount of paperwork required by the IRS, we never will.
